氟是人类生长和发育所必须的营养物质，摄入过多又可能引起氟牙症或氟骨症。因此，全身用氟应根据当地饮水氟含量、饮食习惯及龋齿发病情况综合考虑，由口腔专业医生监督执行；严格控制用氟量，强调安全预防措施在用氟过程中很必要。本项目得到了学校教师及学生家长的支持与合作，氟片的使用是在班主任老师的严格控制与管理下进行的，取得了较为满意的防龋效果，用氟5年，未发现任何毒副作用。Dfiscoll-Ws等[14]在比较了使用氟化物片剂与使用含氟漱口水以及两者联合使用防龋8年的结果表明，考虑到经济与可行性，最佳的方法是单独使用氟化物片剂。本研究也表明，使用氟化物片剂防龋效果明显，管理得当无毒副作用，使用简单方便、经济，在学校实施，可由学校教师及校医监督执行，易于管理，是一项值得在小学阶段推广应用的防龋措施。
